Six areas of clinical practice

Transplantation, robotic urology and uro-oncology, endourology, laparoscopy, reconstruction and female urology — each backed by independent operative volume.

Renal Transplantation

Live-related, ABO-incompatible, swap, cadaveric, repeat and high-risk transplants — open, laparoscopic and robot-assisted.

Renal transplantation forms the cornerstone of Dr. Panda’s practice, extending across live-related, ABO-incompatible, swap, cadaveric, repeat (second and third) and high-risk or technically complicated transplants, using open, laparoscopic donor and robot-assisted approaches.

Dr. Panda has participated in over 250 renal transplant procedures, open and robot-assisted, across Manipal Hospital Whitefield, Manipal Hospital Varthur Road and Manipal Hospital Bangalore — Old Airport Road.

The complete transplant pathway is managed in-house, from donor evaluation and recipient workup through to surgery and long-term post-transplant follow-up.

  • Live-related and cadaveric transplantation
  • ABO-incompatible and swap transplants
  • Second and third (repeat) transplants
  • Robot-assisted renal transplantation
  • Laparoscopic donor nephrectomy
  • In-house donor evaluation and recipient workup

Robotic Urology & Uro-Oncology

Robot-assisted surgery on the da Vinci platform, applied across oncological, reconstructive and transplant work.

Dr. Panda has accrued high-volume operative experience on the da Vinci robotic platform in robot-assisted radical prostatectomy, partial and radical nephrectomy, radical cystectomy, pyeloplasty, adrenalectomy, robot-assisted renal transplantation and advanced reconstructive urology.

The da Vinci system provides magnified three-dimensional vision and wristed instruments that articulate beyond the range of the human hand. It is used to deliver precision dissection, reduced operative morbidity and faster recovery in cases that would traditionally require major open surgery.

The same platform underpins a comprehensive uro-oncology practice covering cancers of the prostate, kidney, bladder, adrenal gland and upper urinary tract, with peri-operative decision-making and multidisciplinary tumour board discussion directed at optimising both oncological control and long-term functional outcomes.

  • Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy
  • Partial and radical nephrectomy
  • Radical cystectomy
  • Pyeloplasty and adrenalectomy
  • Robot-assisted renal transplantation
  • Adrenal and upper tract tumours
  • Advanced robotic reconstruction
  • Multidisciplinary tumour board planning

Advanced Endourology

1,500+ procedures across the full range of stone and lower urinary tract disease, from a single calculus to complex staghorn burdens.

Dr. Panda has performed and assisted in more than 1,500 endourological procedures, the majority accrued during senior residency at an 850-bed tertiary care centre, spanning PCNL, RIRS, ECIRS, URSL, CLT, TURP, TURBT and OIU.

This remains the highest-volume component of the practice and covers the full range of urinary stone and lower urinary tract disease, from simple calculi to complex staghorn and multi-tract stone burdens.

  • PCNL and multi-tract PCNL
  • RIRS and ECIRS
  • URSL and cystolitholapaxy
  • TURP for prostate enlargement
  • TURBT for bladder tumours
  • Optical internal urethrotomy

Laparoscopic Urology

A laparoscopy-first approach wherever clinically appropriate, backed by formal minimal access fellowship training.

Minimal access surgery is applied across donor nephrectomy, radical and simple nephrectomy, pyeloplasty, ureterolithotomy and allied procedures.

Dr. Panda holds a formal Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery, supporting a consistently laparoscopy-first approach wherever clinically appropriate.

  • Laparoscopic donor nephrectomy
  • Radical and simple nephrectomy
  • Laparoscopic pyeloplasty
  • Ureterolithotomy
  • Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery

Reconstructive Urology

Redo and referred reconstruction, including cases where previous intervention has failed.

Dr. Panda undertakes the full range of urological reconstruction, including anastomotic and augmented urethroplasty, female urethral reconstruction, and vesicovaginal and ureterovaginal fistula repair.

This work frequently involves redo and referred cases in which previous intervention has failed, and has formed the basis of several of Dr. Panda’s conference presentations.

  • Anastomotic urethroplasty
  • Augmented (graft) urethroplasty
  • Female urethral reconstruction
  • Vesicovaginal fistula repair
  • Ureterovaginal fistula repair
  • Redo and referred reconstruction

Female Urology & Urogynaecology

An established practice in incontinence, pelvic floor dysfunction and genitourinary fistula.

Dr. Panda maintains an established practice in female urology, covering urinary incontinence, pelvic floor dysfunction, female urethral stricture and genitourinary fistula.

This subspecialty interest is underpinned by a Diploma in Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor Reconstruction from the University of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

  • Stress and urge urinary incontinence
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Recurrent urinary tract infection
  • Female urethral stricture
  • Genitourinary fistula
  • Diploma in Urogynaecology (Schleswig-Holstein)
