Home/Second Opinion

Request an independent review

A second opinion is a standard part of good care, not a challenge to your current team.

What you get

An honest read of what your reports show

Most people asking for a second opinion are not looking for a different answer. They are looking for confidence that the answer they already have is the right one. Often it is, and you will be told so plainly.

  • An independent read of your scans, biopsy and blood results
  • Whether the proposed operation is the right one for your anatomy and stage
  • Whether a less invasive option would achieve the same result
  • Realistic functional outcomes — continence, potency, kidney function
  • What happens if you choose to wait, and what that would cost you
  • A written summary you can take back to your original team

What to send in advance

  • All imaging — CD, film or a link to the study, not just the report
  • Biopsy and histopathology reports
  • Recent blood work, including creatinine and eGFR
  • Operative notes from any previous surgery
  • The written recommendation you have been given
  • A note of what matters most to you about the outcome
How it works

Three steps, usually within a week

1  Send your records

Email or bring your imaging, pathology and reports. Anything missing is identified before the appointment rather than during it.

2  Consultation

In person or by video. The scans are reviewed with you on screen, and the reasoning behind each option is explained rather than summarised.

3  Written summary

You leave with a written opinion you can take back to your original team, whether or not you choose to have treatment here.

It is your body and your decision.

Asking for a second opinion does not offend anyone worth being treated by. Bring what you have and let us go through it properly.
